Brent Pollock
One thing that struck me as odd from the get go was the card penalty for height. Usually in air combat games, height is an advantage...what am I missing in the design that actually makes height an advantage, other than your opponent having to ditch cards to come up to you...which seems more a defensive advantage than an offensive one
Dan Verssen
Height has 2 advantages. First player order is determined by altitude from high to low. Second, for each level you dive you gain 1 card. As opposed to having to discard 1 card per altitude level climbed.
Brent Pollock
#2 I knew, but if #1 was in the help file, I completely missed it - thanks. I take it that if both sides start at the same altitude, then first move is random?
Moon
Yes, that's correct Brent. After playing a bit you will notice that DIF gives you the same advantages you'd have in any air combat game (or in real life). Altitude means energy. You need to expend energy to climb, but you gain energy by diving. Usually air fights start "high and fast" (every pilot wants to pump up maximium energy) and end up "low and slow".
