That is a BIT overpowered

I just returned from holiday and started playing DiF again. As there were no human opponents free, I started a game against the AI. I noticed already theat the weaker AI pilots got an upgrade, so I was looking forward to my first game against the better AI pilots. But I have not expected that: unfair17ko.th.jpg

As you can imagine: unfair24ek.th.jpg

I like some challenge with the AI. But I do not really like be eaten by some pilots that are way overpowered against pilots with a 100 exp. limit. So please remove them from the demo until a point limitation is in place.

Edit: I can not get this dumb secound screenshot to show probably, but both of my pilots bailed while I only damaged the japanese wingman.

Point limitation is in place. What is happening is that the AI pilot is assigned based on your pilot's total XP as shown in the leaderboard (without the 100 XP limit). This means that - with the demo - it will get increasingly more difficult to play against the AI.

And this is precisely how we inteded it. You are supposed to play the demo a bit to get to know the game and then decide if you'd like to purchase the full version. With the full version, the 100 XP limit is removed (and not only that, you get to use all skills and fly the whole selection of aircraft etc.), and that is what the AI pilots are balanced against.

Actually, when I compare the skills of the two sets of pilots, they really aren't all that far apart.

Your Leader has 3 permanent skills: Natural Pilot, Zoom Climb and Starting Energy. The enemy Leader has 4 permanent skills, but one of them is Target Pilot, which doesn't really help in combat (but does make them more deadly when they shoot you down).

Your Wingman has 2 permanent skills: Natural Pilot and Check Six. The enemy wingman has 3 permanent skills, but again, one of them is the Target Pilot skill.

So the big difference comes down to the "Draw extra card" skills that the AI pilots have, and your pilots do not. If you were playing the full version of the game, I can almost guarantee that your pilots will rarely go into battle without buying at least a couple of "Draw extra card" skills. They're relatively cheap, and they can really help out when you're in a pinch. That's where the 100 XP limit really starts to put the demo pilots at a disadvantage.

Yes, I think that I am going to buy the full version and I can understand such a demo restriction. But these draw and extra card skills make a huge difference in combat, escpeccially in critical situations (like placing a 2:D -.-). I am taking these pilots as a challenge, if if have a flight with both pilots with escape death I will try to shoot some of those überpilots down.

Hi!

Every start is difficult. ;)

I have played more than 500 dogfights now, and every day I am able to learn a new aspect of the game.

When you play, there are many different things to consider.

Playing against bot or human.

Playing 1 on 1 or 2 on 2.

Attacking bombers or escorting bombers.

The situation you discribed was 1 on 1 against bots.

First thing you have to know is that 20 % of all games are senseless cause of the drawing.

You get cards at start where you can shoot down one of his pilots with first attack. (2x Ace Pilots, 2x Maneuver, 1x 2 Sights: Destroyed is perfect for this.

Or he gets cards that you have no chance to counter.

But 8 of 10 games are so balanced, that you can win, if you do the right things.

Next important thing is to start at the right altitude. There are two main tactis. Attacking from low and use something like "Zoom Climb" or from high and use "Power Dive".

If you have good cards for attacking, do the first attack and damage him. (Better kill him.)

If you have good defense cards, let him attack first and fire back with wingman and than with your leader.

Other basic tactics can you read at a special thread.

I personally think the bots are not as good as humans. My best pilot has 96 kills and most of them against "on the paper" better pilots than him.

Last hint, play demo with US-Aircraft cause they have on more point airframe than the other three nations, this could be the difference. (as natural pilot you gain 1 extra point of life, so if you are both, you have 2 life points more than your opponent)

Skuderian, if it wasnt for my holiday i could have over 500 kills now! ;) I had not any chance, no tight turns so he maneuvred on me without trouble, a 2:D and he countered my 3 barrel rolls. My wingman was overwhelmed than, even if he could damage the wingman wit a oots 2:3 I know how to fight. IIRC you are flying bf109e-the weakest plane in the game, so you dont need to tell me that i should take a p40. I challenge you to a herby to a dogfight, with bragging rights for the winner. Komm her wenn du dich traust.

i normaly go for the high or low position but thier is one player out thier that plays extremely well from the medium hieght.

i thought thier was no real advantage in doing this though he clearly showed thier can be, i am sorry i forget his name, but you will know him when you meet him.

i think in the full game many will change thier style because in the demo all the planes are roughly the same but in the full game some planes such as the jappanese zeros have agilty which means they can scissor you and end up behind you, though they are fragile.

plus the me 110 has a rear gunner which means he can shoot at you when you are in his six.

also survival skills become far more important in the full game since you can and do meet planes that are better or worse than yours with pilots who are better or worse than yours.

sometimes you get a milk run sometimes its enough just to survive.

add in the varible of escorting bombers and it can get a bit sticky indeed. however bomber missions are where the points are.

all the nationalitys are not so similar as they are in the demo, each has a particular flavour as you will see. thier is no "best plane" you have to pick a career track that suits your flying style and get the pilot skills to match your plane choice

happy hunting and watch out for that Dan bloke or moon they do seem to like flying the "meat balls" flavour of aircraft..and are practiced at it...you have been warned ;)
