Shaka of Carthage Posted June 27, 2005 Share Posted June 27, 2005 IGOUGO is the "traditional" one side does its turn, then the other side does its turn. WEGO orginally was suppossed to be a "simultaenous" movement system... where both sides "plotted" thier moves, then when both sides where done, the moves where "executed" (ie actually done). But as with all things, the WEGO was bastardized by some who wanted to show how there IGOUGO system was superior to normal IGOUGO systems. Unfortunately, like SC2 it is in development, but perhaps a bit closer to release. This is a true WEGO system, defined in the manner Shaka posted. It has a lovely combat system and the art is reminiscent of TOAW, only better. Looks to be an operational gem, not strategic, albeit with a great editor included so you as a designer will be able to create your own scenarios, although a large number will be included in the game. kozmeister Posted June 27, 2005 Share Posted June 27, 2005 Looks like an interesting in its own right. I think the name is Battlefields though. The difference in the scale emphasizes where SC2 should keep its balance. I think what really fascinates most about WWII and games like SC1 is really the political intrigue surrounding the various players: the parliamentary democracies vs. continent wide national socialism and budding communism. This was really a continent that was up for grabs for a while. Game play should (and does) emphasize the fragility of any one side's advantage and the importance of alliances. SC1's the most fun I've ever had on the computer (save for some memorable hours with Close Combat II). . but I'm jonesing for something new as well. With Computer Player Aids (ie Cyberboard, ACTs, etc) you have the equivalent of a computerized PBeM system. And quite a few boardgames are being converted into TCP equivalents, which allows you to play on-line instead of face to face. If anyone is interested, I could post a summary of them.
