TaoJah
Under what conditions can paratroopers prepare to jump ? I transported a brand new UK paratrooper to Sweden and it wasn't allowed to prepare when it stood next to a supply 8 Headquarter there.
jon_j_rambo
Good question. Wait to you try different hexes around the same city in Russia.
jon_j_rambo
@TaoJah --- You online now? Lets play some TCP/IP.
Terif
Paratroopers need supply of 7 (+not standing to an enemy unit) to be able to prepare for jump. Your Para must have been standing in a mountain, which means it had onla 8-2 = 6 supply.
TaoJah
Rambo, sorry for not seeing your TCP/IP request earlier ! Terif, thanks. I could have won the last game with two stealth paradrops if I knew that : I had paras in range of Berlin and Munchen, but I didn't know the supply 7 rule. Terif
Yep, LR Paras are dangerous - and that´s why it is an elementary rule for survival to always protect capitals in potential range So if you played against a player who knows what he is doing, either Munich or Berlin was occupied anyway and your Paras could have jumped only into imprisonment . arado234
Thanks terif.I was wondering about that.I used that trick to drop on both berlin and munich. What a suprise it was for the other guy when i sent my turn back with the phrase:GOTCHA.I tested both cities with longrange bombers first. TaoJah
Yes, I would have attacked both cities with bombers too, but I wanted the paras to be ready first, of course. Oh, well, a wasted opportunity that will probably cost me the game, my British and American troops are about to get slaughtered, I think.
arado234
TaoJah,when i did it i took a big chance pouring all my tech.into longrange aircraft. Its quite expensive and you never know when they will get plus 5 range. Is that what you tried? TaoJah
You don't need range 5 to take Berlin and Munich, range 4 is enough if you have Sweden (like I did). But no, that was not the reason why I got to range 4 : I got to range 4 so I could spy alot better with my planes. The change for an early knock-out was just a bonus. Apperently that's not enough... My paratroopers were now at supply 7 and couldn't prepare (in clear weather). But their strength was only 3, readiness and morale like 20-something. Apperently those have to be above a certain number too
Terif
Please check again (right click on the Para) if it really has supply 7 and no enemy units are nearby. Other factors like readiness or morale have no influence on its ability to jump. Only if it just jumped you can´t immediately prepare again but have to wait one turn.
