Merv0728
Hello to all, I have been trying some of the campaigns & although I am a newbie I felt that there was something not quite right with the game. I will probably get flamed all over but here goes. The TILE system, I think this is wrong. According to the manual one tile is approx. 50 miles or 80 Kms. So you put a regiment in a tile, that regiment is now covering 50 miles of front, or it is attacked from the next tile 50 miles away. I don't know Huberts thinking when he first began creating the game but I feel that it is trying to be 'all things to all men' in that it is called 'Strategic' & yet is also being 'tactical'. Strategic to me doesn't involve moving Divisions,Regiments & other units individually, but as Armies or perhaps Corps, the 50 mile tile is then suitable, but when you begin moving individual units such as Divisions,Regiments etc., then a different scale is needed, such as perhaps 10 mile to the tile(or hex prefered). Take the D-Day campaign, the distance according to the tiles from the coast of Normandy to Caen is about 250 miles, the distance from Portsmouth to Normandy is about 750 miles ! Please don't be too hard on me the above is meant in the most friendly manner. Alan
pzgndr
According to the manual one tile is approx. 50 miles or 80 Kms. This is for the default strategic campaigns, 1939 Fall Weiss, etc. The smaller operational campaigns assume smaller map scales. This stuff is all relative for a scenario designer. The Editor allows users to set time scales, map scales, unit sizes, etc. appropriate to whatever is being represented. I feel that it is trying to be 'all things to all men' That was part of the idea.
