Yes but if that force can NOT advance all at once and has to trickle in, a smaller force can destroy it, it has been done more than once in history. I see your point about advancing via lower African cities, but once you get close to Cairo you would fight fortified defenses without AIR support and without bombardements from the Sea (as in DDay). Even in DDay they had all those advantages and they knew that had the Germans known of the landing site they could have crushed with the forces they had... EVEN with 10 to 1 air advantage. So a force 10 times in size with little or even equal air support facing an enemy that is dug in with air and naval support and good supply...
