togi
Hi to all, I have a Geforce 2 mx100/200 32 mb and want to update it to the Asus Ati Radeon 9550 ge/td 128 mb / 128 bit? Do you advice it to me? or Asus Geforce Fx 5200 64 bit that I have to buy.. Thanks in advance.. Regards..
Redwolf
No Radeon. Get a GeForce 4 on ebay instead of a 5200. The 5200 is sufficient for CMBO-CMAK but overall a very very slow card (maybe not as bad as the Radeon 9550). If you can shoot a GeForce4 Ti 4200-4800 on ebay you are better off for about the same money.
togi
Hi, Redwolf, I can't understand this fog issue..Does this mean that I can see all the unit of my opponents as the game starts?(Fog of War).. Redwolf
No, fog of war works. The thing not working is fog as displayed as a weather effect in combat mission and a few other games. However, keep in mind that this is just the tip of the iceberg of ATI sins. I will never again buy anything ATI unless maybe they exchange all board members. My ATI bashing is more or less concentrated here: http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=015095 Here is another huge thread, but for $200 video cards: http://www.war-forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17293 ATI lying about the quality of the texture filters, then reverting what they said after they get provenly busted: http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20040603/index.html [ October 15, 2004, 08:22 AM: Message edited by: Redwolf ]
Tim The Enchanter
I second what Redwolf said. This issue is now adjourned.
