KursruK
has anyone figured out how to attach a mortar carrying halftrack to an HQ unit, so that it can remain hidden but still use the mortars? Is this possible?
lucero1148
I believe it's the same as other on board mortar units. At the start of battle the HQ unit must have a command line to the mortar halftrack . If either unit moves away from each other throughout the game then they also lose the Hq's ability to order indirect fire. all best Patrick
Dschugaschwili
On-board mortars don't have to be in command for the entire game to be able to use area fire with the HQ spotting. Just moving the mortar into command range of the HQ should be enough. Dschugaschwili

It doesn't matter what the command status at the start of the battle is. Moving the halftrack into HQ range at any time does the job. You see the red command line and deal. Oh, and it works great, these mortar halftracks are a devastating weapon in CMBB
ParaBellum
I think lucero got confused with the usage of TRPs and onboard mortars. Onboard mortars can fire at a TRP without having LOS to it if they don't move after setup. No HQ is needed for spotting either in that case.
