Dook
For those of you who don't have the bandwidth to download the CMBB demo or who just prefer the Western Front, my new scenario "3 Churches" is available at the Scenario Depot . Try it and review it. Thanks. Here is a preview based on the general briefing. Title: 3 Churches Location: Germany Date: 30 March 1945 Time: Day Weather: Overcast, Wet Type: Allied attack Length: 30 turns Accuracy: Fictional Best played as: Two player or Allies against AI (stick to default setup) By late March 1945, the Allies had crossed the Rhine. The American First and Ninth Armies moved quickly to envelop Field Marshal Model's Army Group B in the Ruhr. The Germans established an emergency defense line between Siegen and Brilon manned by Volkssturm militia and antiaircraft gunners. With little organization or central direction remaining, however, the effort produced mixed results. In places like Küstelberg, Volkssturm troops surrendered meekly, while in other locations, bolstered by the presence of regular troops, they fought fiercely. They were more likely to resist if they had something to protect, such as one of the numerous caches of stolen art amassed by Hitler's forces during the war. Soon after the war began, the Germans put into action operation Sonderauftrag Linz. The goal was to acquire by forced purchase, confiscation, or looting the finest art treasures of Europe for Hitler's private collection. Special organizations such as the Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg and the Dientstelle Mühlmann seized manuscripts, paintings, antiquities, sculptures, and other items for transport back to Germany. The Allies soon learned of the plunder and, in late 1943, began preparations for recovery of the lost masterpieces and return to their owners. Officers of the Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives organization accompanied the Allied armies following the Normandy invasion, searching for purloined art. The Allied MFA&A officers were able to locate and secure many but not all of the German repositories. Estimates of the value of the art still missing, including that looted by the Soviets and Americans during occupation, are as high as $30 billion. This scenario depicts an Allied attempt to secure a hoard of looted art in a fictional German town. The force mix was chosen to approximate a likely encounter in the Ruhr pocket in late March 1945. Based on playtesting, it is very balanced.
