dmart
My recent purchase of CMBO included ver 1.02. After downloading and installing ver 1.04, the start screen still indicates ver 1.02. How can I be sure that the patch has been properly installed? Should the start screen reflect the correct version?
TeAcH
Follow the directions (readme) very carefuly. You cant just unzip it into the CMBO directory, you have to use file(s) within the zip to overwrite the old Combat Mission.exe file. capo_rip
the new patch does not change the version number on the opening screen. I updated from 1.02 to 1.04, according to the readme all i have to do is replace the old exe file with the new one. the size and date seem to be right, but the version number is still 1.04. I take it this is merely an annoying oversight rather then technical problem with the game
dmart
I agree about the annoying oversight rather than technical aspect. If this is the worst issue with a patch, than I really guess I have nothing to complain about.
MadDog0606
I followed the README file for installing the patch and the opening screen has version 1.04 displayed. You didn't start the executable for the game from the CD by mistake?
capo_rip
Yeah, my game is displaying the 1.04 version now too. I think it started after i rebooted. Computer literacy is a matter of degree. sorry for the confusion!
dmart
I found out that the problem was that despite installing 1.04, I was still using the original shortcut on my desktop. Delete the original shortcut and create a new one after installing 1.04 and the start screen displays the proper version. Now I just need to solve the periodic (and too frequent) lock-ups (but I'll save that for another topic).
