Diamond Posted January 16, 2001 Posted January 16, 2001 I have two questions with respect to making scenarios. In the scenario I created the Germans attack from the east and at turn 15 American reinforcements arrive from the north and south. If you're playing the Allied side, the reinforcements arrive as scheduled. However, if you're the German player the reinforcements just sit where they appear and never move into the battle. (They arrive on a road in heavy woods and can't see or be seen without moving down the road.) Second Question- If you're playing the German side the battle is quite challenging. If you're the Allied side (defending) the Germans don't seem to move aggressively enough to the large victory flag. (There is only one flag in the game.) Any suggestions as to how to induce the Germans to move towards the flag a little more vigorously? I tried cutting back on the amount of tanks and/or infantry weapons on the American side but then the game is ridiculously easy when you take the German side.
109 Gustav Posted January 16, 2001 Posted January 16, 2001 Double posting: a redundant redundancy? Getting a good balance between sides is hard. Do the Germans have one or more clear routes of attack? The AI will escort its tanks with inf whenever possible, so if the map is nothing but open ground or nothing but trees, the AI tends to proceed slowly. Adding a second flag near the first one may help. ------------------ Well my skiff's a twenty dollar boat, And I hope to God she stays afloat. But if somehow my skiff goes down, I'll freeze to death before I drown. And pray my body will be found, Alaska salmon fishing, boys, Alaska salmon fishing. -Commercial fishing in Kodiak, Alaska
jasoncawley@ameritech.net Posted January 16, 2001 Posted January 16, 2001 AIs tend to orient themselves by objectives. Instead of one large objective only, try putting some minor flags along prefered, sensible routes to the objective. I realize your victory conditions may hinge on the fight for one place, but if you choose the other locations by their ability to influence the fight for, or the safety of control over, the main objective, you may get the same overall outcome. And the AI may move more sensibly if it sees a gain from going to locations you know are sensible ones, on its way to the objective.
