You may want to check to see if there are any newer video drivers for your video card. Sound card driver updates are recommended also. If you have a PCI sound card (or an on-board sound device, which is often PCI) you may have an IRQ conflict with your video card. The conflict arises from sharing an IRQ, which is normal, but can cause problems with CM (this assumes that you're running on a PC). If you want more specific details, you'll need to provide some more details on your computer (PC/Mac, video card, sound card, Operating System, etc.).
