Setup.exe is not a valid win32 application...

Recommended Posts

Hi, intriguing game... I received it two days ago, popped the CD in, double-clicked on Setup.exe as instructed and received the above message. Double-clicking the CM file did start and run the program, though at an excruciatingly slow rate (233 mghz, 64ram, ? video). Is the agonizing speed due to the hardware or to the fact that it was never setup properly and it is forced to access the CD for info. Thanks for any insight!"H"T

It's slow because A) Your system is slow and B) In all likelihood its running from the CD.

Okay, sounds like something in your Windows Temp folder is keeping the setup.exe from running. This is rather common with Windows.

Browse to your Windows\Temp folder and delete it's contents. Now try and run the setup.exe from the CD.

If it works, then cool, you should go ahead and let the game install. If it doesn't then we can perform a manual install.

For a manual install you will first need to create a install folder somewhere on your computer. Call it "CMBO".

Now, from the CD copy the following folders (making sure to get the files they contain as well). BMP,WAV and Scenarios. Place them into the new CMBO directory you created above. Now, copy the Combat Mission.exe file from the CD into your new CMBO folder.

Double-click the Combat Mission.exe that is on your computer and the game should launch as normal.
