Sivodsi
Really enjoyed this one, though it was a little different to expected. They used recently found recon photos montaged over 3D models of the terrain as a jumping off point to retell DDay landings. Some parts would be v. useful for scenarios based on Omaha and Utah. Very well done - at times tough to say which footage has been created/recreated, and which is original. Wish they'd have a little marker in the corner or something.
John Kettler
Sivodsi, This is part of a new series, not a one off. There has already been one Pacific episode, Guadalcanal, if memory serves. The technique you describe is the very core of the series and forms both the framework and the narrative touchstone around which all the interviews and additional graphics are built. I've read about D-Day for decades, but nothing brought home the criticality of those exits the way the scrolling 3-D map did, likewise Omaha Beach vs. Utah Beach terrain.
