V
I don't know if this is the correct forum for this, but Ronald Spiers of WW2 and Band of Brothers fame died on the eleventh of this month.
David I
V, Right forum. Thanks for sharing. He was a fighting SOB and took care of his men. May he rest in peace, he saw plenty of war. DavidI
SgtMuhammed
I had a CO like him once, would have followed both of them to hell and back. Rest in peace, you definitely deserve it.

McIvan
Pardon me for asking, but was it ever resolved whether or not Spiers murdered those prisoners?
MarkEzra
I wish to clarify my comment: The "Rally Point" meant Heaven where the fallen E company men are. "Anybody want a smoke" was meant to be Spier's teasing his buddies. I have no knowledge of the actual incident. Lt Col Spier's served his country with honor and courage. May God Bless him.

David I
As far as I know the murdered prisoners story was a rumor, told by somebody that knew somebody, who heard tell that.... DavidI
