John Kettler
Okay okay! Dense former gun AT concentration, consisting of a slew of Pak 40s and two 88s, covered by an apparent 3.7cm Flak 36. Some of the Pak 40s are camouflage painted, but some also have a network of wires on the front into which foliage could be thrust. Just think how much heartbreak the Allies went through in the bocage country to put that collection together! http://www.ceris-normandie.com/archivesnormandie/PhotosHD/p012028.jpg Regards, John Kettler
Guest Mike
The AA gun near the US soldier especially seems very small for an 88, and is the other one tipped on its side? It looks very odd. A couple of the AT guns beyond the soldier appear to have recuperators on top of their barrels, so may be ex-russian 76's?
John Kettler
Stalin's Organist, Good catch on whatever that is near the soldier. From what I can tell, there is an 88 down the way near the end of that row, as evidenced by the fenders of what appear to be the Sonder Anhanger 202 trailer for the 88. That said, something's wonky there somewhere. A characteristic 88 type footpad is visible, but orientation's off. After flubbing the ID of an FK 296 ® as a ZIS-3 in the ultra rare 21 PD thread, I'm going to leave the other gun IDs to someone else. tar
The nearest gun also appears to have a dent in the barrel, presumably from some sort of "gun hit".
