Vetch
Did a search and saw that a couple of people have already mentioned this problem. Just got a new 400mHz single processor G4 and wanted to confirm that this is indeed happening. In the setup turn, unit text is visible in the info box, but it takes the color of the setup zone boundary of whatever setup zone the unit is in. The info text disappears on the movie playback of the first turn and then does weird stuff for the rest of the time--most often being drawn as a completely unreadable black on black. Two questions: 1) Does BTS have a mac with a Radeon card to test this stuff out and determine what's wrong? Since ATi has had notoriously bad drivers for years I would be absolutely SHOCKED if this is being caused by anything else. 2) If it is the drivers, are ATi aware of the problem and working on a patch? Seeing as how Combat Mission is the game of choice on the mac and the Radeon is the card of choice I hope they get them working well together soon. Guest Madmatt
ATI has told us they currently has a driver revision in internal QA that is going to resolve some issues with the text but to be honest I am not sure if the Radeon was goign to benefit from this new driver. I will find out though. Madmatt
Vetch
Thanks, Matt... I appreciate the response. One of the main motivators for this upgrade was getting a 32mb agp card that could handle all of the CM graphic mods that I want to throw its way. Aside from the text glitch, the Radeon does render CM graphics VERY nicely. Still have more testing to do with mods and such but the default CM graphics are noticeably improved from the 16mb Rage Pro. Please keep us posted as I figure this issue will hit a lot of serious Mac gamers as more and more pick up a Radeon in either its OEM or over the counter versions.
