rocketman
I have not come across any info regarding how squad size affects the ability to spot the enemy. For example, a rifle squad of 12 soldiers will have a far better chance to spot the enemy than a similar squad of just 6 soldiers, given that both aren't moving nor have binoculars. 12 "sets of eyes" would do a better job don't you think? Maybe the game engine calculates for this, but can anyone confirm this?
MOS was 71331
A 12-man squad may be better than a 6-man squad at spotting, but, as it's twice as large, it's also more likely to be spotted.
Slappy
I am sure that the bigger unit is easier to spot, but I have no confirmation that it spots easier.
Denwad
however a 2 man anti tank team is able to be spotted by a T-34 from the rear quarter even though it has no viewports in that area
