Jack Carr
Any of you ever read the book by Willi Heinrich? It's far better than the Peckinpah movie. I'm re-reading it now and am surprised at just how entertaining a book it is. I did some internet research on Willi Heinrich and found that he has written several books. Have any of you read any of his other books? [ May 07, 2004, 02:35 PM: Message edited by: Jack Carr ]
Alkiviadis
Yeah, he did another with Steiner in the Carpathian Mts. in late '44. Don't remember much about it or the title xcpt it wasn't as good as "X of Fe"
_Axe_
I just finished Crack of Doom a month or so ago. While good, Alkiviadis is right -- it's not as good as the excellent Cross of Iron. Oops, I mean, X of Fe. Period Table grog.

That's because Cross of Iron was thinly veiled autobiography, or at the least inspired by real life soldiers. Crack of Doom seemed much more like it was purely fiction.
Frenchy
He also wrote another about the occupation after the war. Can't recall the title. I'll see if I can't find it. It's been a while since I read them. Just found it "Mark of Shame". [ May 07, 2004, 09:42 PM: Message edited by: Frenchy ]
