Der Kuenstler
Does anyone have any insight as to when the AI decides the variable ending game ends? Like if you are still playing on turn 34 of a 30 turn game, why does it keep going? Because there is still firing going on? Because a flag is still neutral? I've been in games where we were both spent and wanted it to end but it kept on going and neither of us were sure why. It can go 25% of the game length or +10 turns, whichever is less. So a 40 turn game can go up to 50 turns.
Zalgiris 1410
I'm not exactly sure either but in your situation when playing human vs human you both need to declare a ceasefire secretly and the battle will end. No penalties apply for choosing to do this, even for the player who declares first.
Wally's World
I think but not certain, that if a flag changed hands in the last few turns, the battle will continue.
securityguard
I think it's just completely random really. I've never seen a consistant reasoning for it extending time or not extending.
pocketrocket
If you can predict what will extend the game then a massive opportunity for gameyness arises. Better that it remains random and unpredictable
michael_wittman44
True pocketrocket. hmm Iguess it depends also on what the morale of both side are as well.
imported_KG_ThorsHammer
The feature was introduced to prevent last minute rushes to secure flags and get extra points. Usually from my experience, if flags are changing hands very late, the battle continues for a while longer.
