wooden bunkers

Recommended Posts

Does repeated hits on a wooden bunker weaken it. Or is each hit considered as if it were never hit? My thinking on this, is if you keep hitting a wooden bunker it will eventually break. And if this is the case the percentage of penetrating , should increase over time, with repeated hits.

Curious to know if this is how the game handles this. Or is it a waste of time and ammo, to keep pounding a wooden bunker, if the hits wont eventually penetrate.

What are you hitting it with?

It has never taken more than 1-2 rounds of HE from any AFV I have ever played with to take one of these guys out.

Whatever the case, I think a "hit" that causes no casualties in the bunker does nothing (but let you know that you have lined up your shot and will continue to hit). So it does not weaken with time.

I am hitting it with a German 47mm, and a 75mm. I have hit it at least 20 times now. I have seen "hit, no damage", "partial penetration", "penetration", "gun hit". When I target it, it keeps saying "kill, very low" and "kill low".

Are you hitting it from the side, rear or front? Rear has the best chance of a kill, then front, and the side is usually little-none.

Hmmm... I'm just playing a scenario where a Russian wooden bunker with a machine gun was covering a stretch of road. I advanced a German PSW 222 armoured car into LOS to it, and it started to fire the 20mm gun against them, using only HE ammo. The PSW only needed something like 4-5 20mm bursts to knock the bunker out. Some of the bursts were reported as entering the firing slit, and you could here the excited voices of the German crew each time they hit the bunker. I would imagine that a higher caliber HE shell would be a lot worse than the 20mm HE... but maybe the rate of fire is what really counts here.

I am hitting it from the front. I had another 47mm that had a rear shot. It was showing"kill none" , so I didnt even bother using that tank.

It is a Russian wooden MG bunker, and as of last turn it was still returning fire.

Another point worth noting is, My Panzer IV, wont even target it, unless I specifically tell it to.
