More like 1500 rpm I think. It was meant to be less demanding to produce, using lower quality material and less of it, with lower overall weight a side benefit.

But they never worked out the bugs. There was a prototype as early as 1944. Only 10 were ever made; it never entered real production. Several of them were captured by the Russians, and were the source of those pics.

Some features from it may have descended to various other post war MGs, though which is something MG grogs dispute regularly and seems confused (I'm not an expert on that subject).

I have fired the MG 42, and the MG 3 both, as well as the current and past Canadian/NATO squad SAW's and GPMG's. Minimi is a lovely weapon, and although this has no CMBB/CM signifigance per se, I'd personally like to see any further Info on this weapon. Anyone have the actual weapon designation-MG 42 (V) (V as in fifth model?) Thanks to all-JHW (BCGOVT)
