Sivodsi
Wow, so that is what 'gun damage' looks like: http://www.aeronautics.ru/archive/wwii/photos/gallery_004/2432.jpg
SpitfireXI
Would it be a good idea to make a foxhole in the middle of the street like that?

If they were dropping 122's and 152's and cratering the building around you, then, yes, I would say that was a good idea.
Wartgamer
Actually artillery striking the buildings on either side would rain down fragments into that shallow position. There may be a building very close by to the left that they could crawl to. I do not think they are in the very middle of a road.
MeatEtr
As if anybody can truely size up the tactical situation of that MG crew from that pic. Who really knows for sure? But I do like this pic of a Tiger. You can see the dent in the turret from a shell. Oh and thanks for the links to these great pics.
Shmavis
Are these the 'suicide dogs' that so many Eastern front scholars and veterans have mentioned? The 3rd and 4th dogs from the left look like they have bombs with trip fuses on their backs.

simovitch
If one could make their screen black and white/greyscale, I think this photo gives an idea as to the effect that one could get in CM.
MikeyD
Looking at that I'm reminded how CM is occassionally criticized for being 'toy-like' in appearance. Well, sometimes the real thing can look toy-like too! I'm surprised (though i probaly shouldn't be) by how standardized the Stug camou patterns are. In those hobby picture books we're used to seeing single vehicle snapshots of a wide variety of camou patterns.
