SuperTed
Set-Up. Okay, let’s walk through the available options before trying to take over the world (What are we going to do tomorrow, Brain? ), shall we? First, there is a list of campaigns available to play. This list includes: </font>1939 Fall Weiss---September 3, 1939</font>1940 Fall Gelb-----------May 10, 1940</font>1941 Barbarossa--------June 22, 1941</font>1942 Fall Blau-----------June 28, 1942</font>1943 Citadel---------------July 5, 1943</font>1944 Overlord------------June 6, 1944 </font>To get the full effect, we’ll start at the beginning when those bloody Polish hordes attempted to invade. I just hope I’ll be able to fend off this ruthless bunch. Next, a screen full of options can be seen here. I want to have all the options in play (except “War in Siberia”), including random settings for Politics, to keep things interesting. After selecting the underdog Axis side, I take a long look at the map and the menus before I decide how to approach things. Assuming I can keep the USSR and USA from entering the war early (or even “on time”), I decide to focus my efforts on eliminating Britain. As it was in the real deal, this will be no small feat. First, I know I’ll need to focus my Research energies into areas that will help me attain my goal. The primary categories will be Advanced Subs, Rockets, and Heavy Bombers. This will allow me to do significant damage before attempting the Channel crossing. Of course, Britain cannot be attacked immediately. First I need to deal with the minor nations and France in order to set up a base for my assault. After Poland, it is essential to capture Denmark and Norway in order to get the MMPs and airbases. As with history, the Low Countries and France will come next. Hopefully Italy will join the Axis at this point so I can push for the Suez Canal in Africa. It’s not that I need to capture it; I just want to tie down as many British forces as I can. At the same time, I plan to use U-boats to discourage the British from transporting land units between their homeland and North Africa. During my attempt to knock Britain out of the war, I need to keep an eye on the USSR. They may feel like entering the war if my eastern garrisons seem week. So, I must keep a respectable force in Poland to stave off the socialists. I just hope it won’t be so much that it hampers my offensives against Britain. I know it’s a gamble, but I want to avoid a second front at all costs. [ May 02, 2002, 11:21 AM: Message edited by: SuperTed ]
BloodyBucket
That's more like it! Screens look great, it almost broke my heart when I pushed the "OK" button on the options menu and nothing happened. Thanks, SuperTed. The appetite is certainly whetted, BTS is supplying bones aplenty today.
Straha
Thanks so much, SuperTed! Can´t wait to read more! Hmm, and I´m pleased to see that the Rhine now goes fully South! The Polish border seems a bit off, though, in 1939 Silesia was still German (i.e. the whole of the Oder in the South should be Grey. Desert Dave
Great looking map! FoW is going to be interesting. Yeah ... looking at an old map, it appears that the part of Slovakia (due south) that the Germans occupied by this date -- goes a few clicks east of Warsaw, so an attack from the south would be possible? Straha
The attack from the South came from Silesia, Moravia and Slovakia. Army Group South (Rundstedt) had 18 Infantry, 4 Slovak Infantry, 1 Mountain Division, 2 Motorized, 4 Light Motorized, 4 Panzer Divisions and attacked from Silesia / Moravia and Slovakia. Well, Silesia is missing here, so that all German forces in the South actually start from Czecoslovakia! Hmm, the Oder is wrong anyway. On the game map it goes directly South-East. Instead, it should go straight South until somewhat South of Berlin, then it should make a turn East into Silesia. Btw. can we change these things in the scenario editor if we feel like? Holyman
Yes, the strategic command II should have a bigger and more detailed map. then there would also be room for more details in the strategic resources area
Mr. Clark
YAY! Thanks a plenty! I cannot wait to read more! (I especially cannot wait to PLAY!) EDIT: Couple of questions from the MAP. * Do the white dots on the bottom of your units signify anything? * Shouldn't there be a fortified line on your side of the French border? Am I wrong here... once again, its been a while, I'm just catching up again. * Some of the "enemy" units have numbers, some have lines. Is this a FOW thing? waynef
Looks like a great game. Cant wait to play! * Do the white dots on the bottom of your units signify anything? * Shouldn't there be a fortified line on your side of the French border? Looks like their are graphics under the unit chit (barb wire sticking out- Pill Box symbol)
BloodyBucket
Been playing with the screenshot and MS paint, inserting NATO symbols, messing around with other unit icons, just for grins. Someone with artistic ability and the right programs (I have none of the above) might come up with some interesting mods.

It's simple and effective. * You'd have to ask Hubert that one. * Yes, if a unit has not been fully identified, it has the line.
