watchdog
After blitzing through the Ardennes, occupying the Low Countries, and seizing Paris from my computer opponent expecting France to fall, I had to face the strange realization that in fact France did not surrender at the end of the turn as usual but instead lived to fight on through 2 more turns.  Of course this threw a huge wrench into my plans for an early Balkan and Russian invasion. Is there some reason for this effect that I am unaware of? John DiFool
It seems to me that you need to kill enough French units to compel surrender, even if you have taken the capital... John DiFool
Mammou
We were far too brave for you...we will not just surrender like that. You must try to smite us!
rleete
I always try to take at least one of the forts off the Maginot, to ensure surrender. That always seems to work. Providing Paris falls, of course.
Straha
It seems that there's no deterministic automatism with respect to the time of France's surrender. This was also in other games like COS, and I like it because it makes for slightly different games everytime. Straha
rleete
True enough. But you also learn what is enough to get a country to surrender. It's more of a "feeling" than any set circumstances, but after playing the demo a zillion times, you get to know what it takes.
Moon
It's fairly straightforward actually, after taking the captial, for every unit still active there is a % chance that the country will fight on (and, for example, try to retake the capital) Martin
