Fuerte2
It has started to annoy me. And it just slows down the PBEM games I play. I know that it is some .wav file, but which one?
Pascal DI FOLCO
Just don't exit CM, ever ... You can minimize it (hit ESC) , and the prog is SO stable that you can do pretty everything in between without crashing your system... Also leave the CD in your drive
russellmz
How do I change that really loud exit sound? Change file 00000171.wav and either use a computer sound recorder program to reduce the noise level or copy in a different sound like the sniper sound 00000410.wav or the end of battle sound 00000129.wav. ------------------ russellmz, Self-Proclaimed Keeper for Life of the Sacred Unofficial FAQ. TwoSheds
The exit sound is in wav\00000171.wav Just replace it with a more unobtrusive sound, I've never tried just removing it but that might work too.
Doug Williams
Just removing it doesn't seem to work. The program will then pull it off the CD and you will still hear it. Replacing it with another sound seems to be the best option.
Terence
I would never remove that sound. It's my wife's favorite part of the game. When she hears that, she knows I'm going to emerge from the computer room and pay attention to her.
printt
The same process will work for the cornet notes at the end of a battle no? It is a dead giveaway my wife is conditioned to and I would be a lot better off if she was not to hear I am done with my proverbial "last battle". hehehe..it's kind of like muffling the tab on a fresh beer can... except in reverse of course. Thank You! printt p.s.: what is the .wav address of the sound file I am speaking of?
Juju
Hmm, the sniper sound (0000410) is actually quite cool as an exit sound. Especially if you have the modded version with that sharp reload sound added after the shot.
mrcobbler
I replaced it with the 'taps' wav file. It cuts off the end but is a much more muted ending. Don't remember where the 'taps' wav is found though. Shoeman
Fuerte
Thanks for all the replies! Removing the file didn't help (in fact it played some better, quieter sound instead), so I copied 00000150.WAV TO 00000171.WAV. 00000150.WAV is the shortest one, the click sound. The sniper sound was as loud as the exit sound, I guess that I have the original. kburns24
You should try Kitty's exit sound for CM. It is a colorful quote from Joe Pesci. The link is: www.fluffkitty.com/hamsters.htm And if you don't have her King Tiger mod, pick it up on her site too. You won't regret it. ------------------ Democracy is the recurrent suspicion that more than half of the people are right more than half the time. - E.B. Wilhammer
"It's my wife's favorite part of the game. When she hears that, she knows I'm going to emerge from the computer room and pay attention to her." I like that. Why not record a wave "Honey, I'm done playing" and use that as your exit sign? I am going to do that right now.
