Canuck
I just got a copy of what I am pretty sure is the newest release of the game-do I still need the 1.12 patch? Are there any other patches that I need?
Forever Babra
Your splash screen should tell you what version you have. ------------------ Mein Vater, mein Vater, und hörest du nicht, Was Erlenkönig mir leise verspricht? - Sei ruhig, bleibe ruhig, mein Kind; In dürren Blättern säuselt der Wind. Guest ckoharik
You will need to download the 1.12 patch even if you just got your CD. Other than that, I'd say go looking at some sites for mods. They will drastically improve the look of the game. Have fun!
GriffinCheng+
Congrads Canuck! BTW, first, did u stock enough food and water at home? Or do you have somebody else to feed you regularly? Okay, here is the updated "What you should do when your CM copy arrives" 1. Get the version 1.12 patch. 2. Visit the following sites for mod: CMHQ http://combathq.thegamers.net/ (fttb) for MadMatt Mod Pack Manx's Combat Mission site http://www.combat-missions.net/ get all the Tiger's mod CM Output http://www.afv-uk.net/cmoutpost/ also features a lot of nice mod and comparisons Deanco 's web site for all UI mod http://mapage.cybercable.fr/deanco Oh, nearly forget the humorous Hamster mod and great King Tiger mod which are available at Kitty's site http://www.fluffkitty.com/ Don't forget the great CM mod article at http://www.cdmag.com/ 3. Visit and get all the 3rd party scenarioes and operations: Wild Bill Wilder's "CM Boots 'n Tracks" section http://wbr.thegamers.net/ (fttb) Grab all the files you can. Including the most important Scenario Database by Harv. Manx's Combat Mission page, grab all the Rune's Pack and other nice scenarioes there. (Oh, please forgive if I have not included your great sites here) 4. Read and learn from other great players from their AARs and tutorials: CMHQ features many AARs including historical Alpha AARs by Fionn http://combathq.thegamers.net/ Manx has made a series of armor tactics at his Combat Missions site http://www.combat-missions.net ScoutPL has made a series on infantry attacks and defense tutorials at http://www.geocities.com/fpd131/ Also, there is a CM reading book list but I am sorry I don't have the link right now. 4. Start to play at least one PBEM or live TCP/IP game. 5. Spend your non-gaming time (i.e. the rest of your time) here in the CM Forums. 6. Do not forget to kiss your life goodbye. Griffin. P.S. Would you like a game of PBEM? ------------------ "When you find your PBEM opportents too hard to beat, there is always the AI." "Can't get enough Tank?" GriffinCheng+
Frankly Canuck, No sweat! My memory serves me quite well and normally I don't have to bookmark most of sites I reguarlly visit (including pron sites) Playing against AI teaches you how to use each of the weapon modelled in CMBO, but playing against real living human teaches you real tactics and how to put these weapons together (could be some time gamey). Nevermind, see ya around then. Griffin. ------------------ "When you find your PBEM opportents too hard to beat, there is always the AI." "Can't get enough Tank?"
