Leonidas
Is there a way to stop CMBO from making the crashing artillery sound every time you quit the game? I find it so unpleasant I mute my speakers every time I quit, but that's annoying. I'm nervous about randomly messing with sound files, for fear that the exiting noise is also used in the game. Pvt. Ryan
There is a mod for this in one of the Mad Dog Mod Packs that quiets it down. The file is not used elsewhere in the game (AFAIK), so feel free to tone it down or replace it if you want. The AOL "Goodbye" seems appropriate. Old Crow
Just take one of the .wav files out of the .wav file directory and give it the same number as the original ending sound. I use one of the sounds for button clicking. ------------------ "Stupid people shouldn't breed" - Skatenigs

I agree! I find this sound objectionable as well but I don't know which sound file to edit. I'm on a Mac so I need to use the MAc mod manager but I don't know the number of the wav file to deal with it. IT is very annoying that arty boom crunch exit sound, I would prefer no sound or just some nice female voice saying "good-bye". -tom w

Mannheim Tanker
I found a really good substitute from Deanco's site (at least, I think it was from his; it's been a while). That wav file sounds like someone opening a door to a simulator, as it has a 'hydraulic' feel to it. If anyone is interested in it, send me an email. It's MUCH better than the explosion exit that comes with CM... MT
Blanar
I just lowered the volume on that myself this past weekend. It's 171.wav Carl
Hawkmek
I found that end sound annoying also. I put PFC Hudson (Bill Paxton) from Aliens on there saying, "Game Over, Man! Game Over!
Guest Rex_Bellator
Hehe, I just copied an existing sound file in CM and renamed it to 171.wav. Papa Khann
Hawkmek, Would you be willing to send me that file? That's a truly great idea (I love that movie, and Paxton's character is my favorite part about it). Papa

Guest Space Thing
What I did was to take 00000152.WAV and made a second copy of it. I then renamed 00000.171.WAV to AA00000171.WAV, so I wouldn't lose it. I then renamed the second copy of 00000152.WAV to 00000171.WAV No more obnoxious explosion that scares my cats -just a simple metal "clank" sound. Thanks to BTS for making CMBO so customizable! GeoffP
Using Windows Sound Recorder, I replaced 171 by combining 605 and 330. Not quiet, but not offensive either.

Pvt. Ryan
Mikey, make a wav file of your voice saying, "Ok, I'll get right on it" and use that as the exit sound. It will sound like you just got off an important phone call. Your supervisor will think you are a busy, efficient employee with a good attitude. Mikey D, Rename 00000171.WAV to AA00000171.WAV or something so you don't lose it and Copy a Windows WAV file (like DING.WAV) to your CMBO\Wav folder and rename it 00000171.WAV Now, it'll sound like you're working hard. DING.WAV is the Default sound on my system.
M. Bates
My theory is that CM's game exit noise was actually used in WW2 to torture POWs.
Pvt. Ryan
If I remember my Psych 101 course correctly, after hearing that sound a few times we should be conditioned to never exit CM again. I think that was the real purpose behind the sound.

MikeE
LOL you guys are brilliant! Anyone who even has the game loaded at work obviously has a better job than me. Does it run on NT? thanks to Hawkmek for the Alien "Game Over man" wav; it is really appropriate. And makes me want to watch the movie again. Most encouraging of all is the way BTS named these wav files - do the multiple zeros in front of the number mean they plan version 1000 of CM eventually, or just that many different sounds??
