Panther G
I was just wondering if I should have my tanks buttoned up or not. Thanks, Panther G
Maastrictian
Generally you should leave them unbuttoned. They can see and react much better in such a state. When going into close terrain its much more of a question. I generally leave my tanks unbuttoned, but I do loose more TCs that way.
WWB
I follow the Iraeli doctrine on this issue. All tanks should be kept unbottoned except when under small arms fire at ranges less than 200m or artillery attack. You lose a few TCs, but you lose far fewer tanks. LimShady
In close terrain like cities and the one road through the forest I'll button 'em up. Chris
Phillies Phan
i usually button them up and use the Fast command through fog. But then again, my record is 2/20/4.

Unless the shelling is far away.
JunoReactor
Just be fearful of Jabos if you keep them unbuttoned. I lost FOUR TCs to one bomb that way. Ouch.
nedlam
I use to button my tanks up at the 1st sign of trouble. Now I keep them unbuttoned until the computer does it by itself. I figure my little digital TC knows better than me what the situation is. Once I feel like the threat has passed I usually have them unbutton again until the computer closes it up. I would say that is the best practice, they will button themselves when things get hot, but they won't automatically unbutton. So when things quiet down you have to unbutton them and then they will "auto-button" by them selves if they need to. -tom w
Mr. Johnson--
Leave them button except for your final assault when you bring up your 5 Tigers to point blank range. Then button up and charge those troops in those foxholes.
