"so-called My Lai massacre" revisionism

Recommended Posts

Any vets here still keep up on the Army Times? Their web retro on American military personalities this century makes for interesting reading...particularly the language employed to describe the event which lead to Lt. Calley's notoriety (and I quote) "the so-called My Lai massacre."

Unfortunately, much as they seem to want to deny that incident by not giving it its proper appellation, they'd have done a much better and more convincing job in polishing American military honor by featuring the American "humanitarians-at-arms" that day whom earlier last year IIRC were finally recognized officially by Congress and the Army. They were Huey crewmen who protected Vietnamese civilians from rampaging Army grunts -- at gunpoint!

Just thought y'all'd be interested.

Way, way, way, way, way, and way off topic. Please, we don't mind semi off topic stuff if it at least has to do with WWII, but anything that is about it.
