Guest Scott Clinton Posted September 18, 2000 Share Posted September 18, 2000 Why can't anti-tank mines be placed in paved roads and pavement terrain types? Anybody out there an ex-combat engineer what to clue me in? The reasoning behind my question revolves around the fact tha I was always under the impression that a great many of the "paved roads" in western Europe in the mind '40s were paved with paving stones and cobbles (and bricks?) Wouldn't it would be very easy to place mines under a cobble, stone or brick on paved roads? And even if the road were asphalt surfaced, wouldn't it be fairly easy to camouflage the mine considering the general state of disrepair of the roads in a combat zone (you can't avoid every pothole and crack in the road). ------------------ Please note: The above is solely the opinion of 'The Grumbling Grognard' and reflects no one else's views but his own. However I concede to you the benefit of doubt that your profile was one of the erased ones, because I do remember you from before that time (if I remember anyone from back then). I admit that you may have been making _more_ enemies _faster/earlier_ on this board than me, but I am not sure about who's been around longer.
