Guest Mirage2k Posted April 24, 2000 Posted April 24, 2000 I was playing LD today, and something came up that's been nagging me for a while, so I decided to ask it here. Where am I supposed to place my men to take advantage of walls? When giving them movement orders, you can choose to put them on one side of the wall, or right in it! Do I have to put them "inside" the wall for CM to know that they should get some covering benefits, or is right next to it just fine? -Mirage2k
Moon Posted April 24, 2000 Posted April 24, 2000 Right next to it, and the closer to it the better...
Black Sabot Posted April 24, 2000 Posted April 24, 2000 Do a search on walls. Steve answered a question similar to yours
Gen. Sosaboski Posted April 24, 2000 Posted April 24, 2000 Mirage, Whatever you do, DO NOT put them inside the wall if you are planning to hide and then pop up. This ruined a whole plan of mine in a PBEM game with Tobruk (are you still here?). Apparently, there is a beta bug whereby if you put units "in" the wall, the soldiers pop out on both sides, making them easy to see, thus ruining my game . Oh well, my Battalion HQ put up a good fight. ------------------ Sosabowski, 1st Pol. Abn. Yes, I know my name is spelled wrong as a member!
Ben Galanti Posted April 24, 2000 Posted April 24, 2000 I'm not sure it was a bug... I think if you put your unit 'in' the wall (if it says that 'wall' is it's current terrain) The unit is considered on top of the wall. So, there'd be no cover at all
Lorak Posted April 25, 2000 Posted April 25, 2000 Ben, Your right. If the terran says "wall". your on-top of it. (learned this the hard way). best to place your cursor on the wall, then back it up just a little bit. Lorak ------------------ http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/combatmissionclub
iggi Posted April 25, 2000 Posted April 25, 2000 The most precise way in the demo is to use the 5 view. Use realistic view and viewmag X8. You can't get any closer to the wall than that. [This message has been edited by iggi (edited 04-24-2000).]
