johnma Posted May 22, 2000 Posted May 22, 2000 Does anyone remember the game "Across the Rhine" ? As a Mac user, I never played it. I remember it got panned, but why ? I thought the concept rather interesting. Heck, it would be nice to hop into a Panther in CM to direct, micromanage, a crucial exchange of fire...
Juju Posted May 22, 2000 Posted May 22, 2000 1944, ATR! Yeah, I got that one. I don't know what "panned" means, but it was fun, not great, and VERY unstable. At least on my machine it kept crashing like crazy that I stopped playing it. I'd be surprised if it runs at all on present day systems. Hmmm, maybe I should give it a try... ------------------ Combat Axiom #49. It could be worse. It could be me.
Doug Beman Posted May 22, 2000 Posted May 22, 2000 Panned means it was very poorly reviewed. E.g. "Waterworld was panned as being "MadMax's Big Boat Adventure." DjB
Juju Posted May 22, 2000 Posted May 22, 2000 Tried reinstalling it. Got as far as the battle seletion screen, and then it crashes Big Time. Anyone who's in the neighbourhood some time in the future can come and pick it up. Beer's on me too! ------------------ Combat Axiom #49. It could be worse. It could be me.
Black Sabot Posted May 22, 2000 Posted May 22, 2000 Hell, Screw the game, i'd fly across the Atlantic for free beer! How's the weather in Eindhoven? ------------------ "I do like to see the arms and legs fly"
Juju Posted May 22, 2000 Posted May 22, 2000 Not as good as it was a few weeks ago. Any special beer you got in mind? I recommend Hoegaarden. You'll like it! ------------------ Combat Axiom #49. It could be worse. It could be me.
Black Sabot Posted May 22, 2000 Posted May 22, 2000 Served with a Big plate of double-blind scenarios, Pour me a pitcher
Flix Posted May 22, 2000 Posted May 22, 2000 I had Across the Rhine years ago. That game was very unstable, I was never able to finish one mission, it crashed everytime. Flix
