jonp
Sorry if this sounds dumb, but what are advantages/dis to having your tank button up vs button down? I know the obvious that when buttoned down, your men are safe so what are disadvantages to having them down? Is the only reason is not spotting nearby units? Thx
Bullethead
Reaction time and target fixation are the biggies. In CM, buttoned tanks don't spot very well BUT because you have other units around, and because an enemy spotted by 1 unit is spotted by all, this makes little difference. HOWEVER, while the tank might KNOW the target is there, it will take longer to engage it (if it engages at all) if it's buttoned. ------------------ -Bullethead It was a common custom at that time, in the more romantic females, to see their soldier husbands and sweethearts as Greek heroes, instead of the whoremongering, drunken clowns most of them were. However, the Greek heroes were probably no better, so it was not so far off the mark--Flashman
Juju
Also, as per patch 1.01: Buttoned tanks are less likely to engage infantry targets at longer ranges.

Thx

Quite simply the unbuttoned TC (Tank commander) can see and spot more distant enemy units when unbuttoned, but he could get picked off by a sniper then your tank will button up and never unbutton and be disadvantaged by the loss of the TC. The buttoned tank does not "see" as far or as well (this means limited enemy spotting ability) but all the crew members of the tank are safe from being picked off by snipers or machine guns or stray bullets. And remember folks, just like in the real life work place.... SAFETY FIRST! -tom w ------------------
quote:
"Have you thanked BTS by buying your SECOND copy of CM yet?"
