To help folks who BUY DIRECT FROM BF know what are the latest (as of September 11, 2021) versions that everyone should have.

Also, a guide where to locate the FULL INSTALLERS and BIG BUNDLE d/l locations:

 

CM2 FULL INSTALLERS AS OF SEPT 11, 2021

 

CMSF2           v2.03             last updated 7/16/20

CMA               v2.01             last updated 7/17/13

 

BIG BUNDLE:

CMFB             v2.03             last updated 7/16/20

CMFI              v2.11             last updated 7/16/20

CMBN            v4.03             last updated 7/16/20

CMRT             v2.11             last updated 5/3/21

CMBS             v2.16             last updated 5/26/21

CMCW           v1.01

 

Some like CMA (v1.03) and CMSF (v2.04) may require additional updates.

 

Where to locate:

One has to locate one’s latest purchase of any of the Big Bundle games and that links to the big bundle d/l site for all of them.

CMSF2 and CMA purchases have to be located separately.

One of the things that occurred to me is that Steam is an xnt marketing tool to bring in more customers to BF.  However, once the new folks are here, it is to BF's and everyone's benefit to have the new folks buy direct from BF so that BF gets 100% of the money rather than having part of the profits syphoned off by a middleman.  The more money that BF earns the more capability it will have to create more products and updates etc.  That may be the reason that BF has not given Steam all of BF's products. 

The other issue is that there is a distinct disadvantage to Steam's automatic updates.  It is not uncommon for updates to create problems with the game.  In addition, we have seen how mods often don't work with the updated game and that creates all sorts of other problems.  The popular "Animated Text" mod is a good example of a mod that doesn't work after an update and creates issues.  

For that reason, it's better to not install updates immediately and not want automatic updates.  Better to wait to see if problems arise, and then for the patch.  Once one knows where to find the "big Bundles" and the "Full installers" on BF's website, it's easy to d/l and install those manually.  An occasional full install ensures that one has the latest versions with any newly created or updated content.
