Make sure the patch didn't create a Cold War subfolder inside your main CW folder and put the .exe there. When I installed the patch it tried to do that. Meaning that when I pointed the patch to my D:\Cold War folder it tried to install to D:\Cold War\Cold War. I had the exact same thing happen.

How did you avoid that the patch creates it’s own folder?

When running the patch you can edit the address or type in anything you want. Just delete the last \Cold War part. There is no need to download a patch anywhere near the game's directory. Then when running it the patch will install to the default installation location unless you "point" it somewhere else.
Vanir Ausf B
BTW, the install location issue only happens if your game is located somewhere other than the default location of C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefront\Combat Mission Cold War.

Jakabee
Great, but how do you install it? There are no notes in the patch for new players.

Unzip it to a new empty folder and run the setup program inside said new folder. Notice I say new folder twice that was on purpose it's vitally important!
arkhangelsk2021
I've just bought it, so I started on Version 1.01 (no patch). The "display size" file isn't working for me. The “display size.txt” is not working for me - it works for the Steam-purchased Black Sea, so I copied the file. No dice. I tried to make a new file. Still not working.
Erwin
A thought: Is the file in the correct location? ie: My Documents/Battlefront/Combat Mission/<Name>/display size.txt

I put it in the same folder as the .exe because that's what works for Black Sea (bought on Steam). I'll try that when I get home. Thanks.
Erwin
Hmm. It's not in my copy of the CMBS "game" with the .exe. Check to see you may have a duplicate <display size.txt> in your MY DOCS folder for CMBS. That's where one wants it, not in the .exe folder.
Lethaface
Steam has slightly different path because everything is inside the steam install folder, while for BFC installs the userdata / mods / hotkeys etc go into \documents\battlefront\game by default.
arkhangelsk2021
Thanks for the help all. Now both games are purring at 1366x768 res (yes, I actually prefer low-res so everything is bigger on the screen).

Probus
Can anyone hazard a guess when the next patch for CMCW is going to be released? Matter of days, weeks, months?
ratdeath
My guess is sometime around the 16th of November, that should be the release date for the Steam version of the game.
