Also, there will be the inevitable patches.  These days it may be better to wait b4 buying until the bugs have been listed and fixed and one or two patches released.

wait?  This crowd? Besides, if there is a patch you'll get it anyway.  In the meantime you can at least look at stuff.  BF porn.

Yah, I'm in no panic...it's spring, time to get outside anyways.

It took me most of the afternoon but finally I have Fire and Rubble. The Windows Store has the tool to Unzip the files and it is free.

Makes no sense until I own RT, that's why I'm waiting for the bundle.

You need RT 4 and there is no need for a bundle. Once you have RT4 you see the Fire and Rubble games there (The Games are Dimmed). However, you need to pay for Fire and Rubble and use the Key to activate it on your Desktop Activation App. It is the same App you used to activate Red Thunder as the base game. To summarize you enter two keys on the same App to play the base game and its Fire and Rubble extension.

With Fire and Rubble having partisans and volksturm militia, is it possible for those who have that module to make a scenario or play a quick battle in let's say July 1944 and add men from those militias or are they only able to be used in scenarios and quick battles which occure during the timespan of Fire and Rubble?

I'm asking this because there was the Omakaitse defence militia in Estonia during July and up to September or October 1944, and most likely similar defence militias in Latvia and Lithuania during the same period, trying to help out in defending their country against the Soviets.

Those who later on maybe would like to make scenarios, or campaigns, about the fighting in any of those Baltic States would maybe like to be able to have those defence militias present.

Thanks everybody who preordered this game for beta testing it for the rest of us.

Does those words mean that you might buy Red Thunder later on when the bundle is released? If I'm correct your mindset has been that one game is enough as all the Combat Mission WW2 games are too similar.

I have had that same mindset myself but will probably buy Red Thunder later on as I'd like to fight the Soviet heavier tanks and assault guns and would also like to see what it's like to meet the Soviet submachine gun platoons.

Scenario yes, quickbattle no.

The editor allows you to add random units, then change the date, and the units stay even if they wouldn't be available in the new timeframe.

I´ve bits of an eastern front mood ATM. Spontaneity paired with some leftover money sometimes yields to actions I´d not planned for actually. 😁 Thus far I like what I see. First actions was grapping some mods from the warehouse and adapt shader file to my prefered settings. Now as always spending some time in editor and check (new) things out. 😎

Well, Harry, at least you have all the WWII Titles (if you don't...minus well get them all) to keep you busy until CMx3 :-)

True! Even without CMRT (+F&R) I should´ve been busy due to many unfinished projects for CMBN and CMFB alone. I keep skipping FI as anything south of the alps is not really my cup of tea.

What I like about F&R is the Soviet artillery. It is far more realistic, in regards the Command and Control. You have plenty and you must carefully plan your fire-plans. No longer can just any HQ call a mission whether they have a radio or not. They could have 'Signal Units' which could roll out field phones. or we could organize missions who can do this during a night mission. C&C is now the role of their armor, these all have radios.

I'm not ruling out buying it at some point, but I don't really have any plans to do so right now. If CMFR had shipped with fundamental changes and improvements to infantry pathfinding, urban fighting, and fortifications, I would have been more interested in attacking or defending Berlin.

I see that the bundle is out now...not June.  I'm thinking along your lines a bit though.  I really have no interest in more urban combat because of the points you make.

@Bulletpoint The improvement is Soviet artillery no longer can any HQ call out heavy artillery. At least I think it is a welcome change, you must plan your missions carefully at the start of the game. Set piece attack in other words. FR makes the basegame look archaic. My problem with urban combat is no provision for cellars or subways.
