Face (G) problem

CMBN 4.02.

I was playing a battle last night, and some of my units lost the ability to Face(G).  One was 4th Platoon leader unit way in the back with the mortars under no fire and no danger that I could see.  I could tell it to move in all the normal ways, but not Face (G).  A couple of other units also lost the Face ability.

Am I missing something obvious?

did you use hotkey (g) or click the command panel button "face" directly?

Were you able to use the face command on some units and not others? Were the affected units infantry or vehicles or both?

Did you try other scenarios or did it only happen in that one? Which battle was it and was it singleplayer or multiplayer?

Was the game in realtime or turn based?

Do they have any target or target arc orders? Those will make the Face command inaccessible. You have to cancel the target/target arc orders and then use Face.

Button is grayed out.  I tried both the button and G.

Infantry, only a few units, not most.

Single player wego in two scenarios so far.  Pleasant walk in woods (4th platoon hq) and Out on a limb (platoon hq and 3rd squad).

Maybe not related, but also 3rd Squad cannot be split or divided.

Sorry about all the questions but was this a vanilla install of CMBN, ie. no mods? If you've got mods installed I'd remove them to a safe place and try again.

It is a weird bug. Never head about it before. Can you download a demo of another game and check if it happens there too or if you own any of the other games already check them.

Yes, putting a tiny target arc on a unit to stop it from firing does seem to result in losing the Face ability.  A misfeature, I would say.  But I still think I have seen it when there is not target arc.  Not a show stopper.  Life goes on.

Perhaps but I doubt it will be changed.

If you want to control facing and have a cover arc you can use a wedge arc - the unit will "face" the centre of the wedge. Once the unit is done moving and facing the way you want you can replace it with a circular cover arc.

The target arc is ok but when using it with the hunt command I wish the hunting unit would stop even if the spotted enemy contact is outside the arc, not just within it.
