pcelt
Just a small clarification please------once you have used your spotter to select a target for the arty, am I right in assuming he can then revert to "hiding" with no adverse effect on the accuracy or timing of the requested bombardment. ianc
I've tried to get them to hide again after selecting a target, but I can't do this with V1.03, so I guess that means no... ianc
Guest Michael emrys
They have to be "up" to call in corrections to the firing battery. You might try giving them a Hide order after the FFE starts coming in though. Michael
Strat
If you have a company or battallion commander that can see the enemy the arty spotter can target without having to see the target. The spotter can be in a safe out of the way place. Strat

Madmatt stated pretty decisively that that is not the case in another thread recently (might have been on the Tips & Techniques board). I haven't tried it myself, so I don't know. I do know that an FO can call fire on a location he has no LOS to, but it arrives as area fire. Could that be what you saw? Michael
