Ivan Zaitzev
Hello. I don't have CM:BS but I have been toying with the idea of buying the game. I have noticed in the demo that US teams carry breaching kits giving them an edge in MOUT. Do any Russian / Ukrainian units carry breaching kits? Does this correspond with reality?

I was just looking at some Russian mech infantry squads and none of them had breaching kits. I imagine their engineering squads do, but I haven't checked. I'm not familiar with Ukrainian units at all, so can't say about them, but it would not surprise me if they follow the Russian pattern. HUSKER2142
In the army of Russian Federation and Ukraine there are subversive kits, with proper explanation of how to correctly and safely use this kit. They can use not only engineering units. http://3w.su/weapons4/sz-y.html http://3w.su/weapons4/sz-136.html http://3w.su/weapons4/kzy.html http://3w.su/weapons4/kzk.html Edited October 1, 2017 by HUSKER2142
TJT
Did a little poking around in game; Russian recon squads have demo charges but no other non-engineer units in either UKR or RUS forces have them in game. Would be nice if there was MOUT augmented units in their OOB in a future patch/expac. Also, breach kits that could be acquired from vehicles/supply trucks would be a nice addition.

Agreed, I generally add at least one breach team per company (per platoon in urban terrain).

I'm wondering if the Russian army has something similar and if it should be added to the game.
cool breeze
The breaching kits arn't for doors, all doors are considered unlocked/easily broken in the game
Sgt.Squarehead
Making it possible to Acquire breaching charges seems the sensible option.....I'd like to see this done with smoke & grenades too.
Sorrow_Knight
I think, that with current behaviour of buildings, democharges gives infantry only problems: the only advantage of democharge is that infantry not needed door to enter building, but it destroy whole section of wall along building side, it reducing building HP and making it easier to demolish (that is bad if you manage to defend inside), democharge will not give any advantage to assault building from outside, just make team, trying to plant it vulnerable for enemy fire from inside (infantry in building already have to big defensive bonus, that makes infantry assault of occupated building something near sacrifice for attackers).
Sgt.Squarehead
There are buildings, and there are buildings: Breaching charges aren't used only for assaulting buildings, but also for creating safe routes of travel through rows of buildings that lie parallel to exposed streets. PS - It's just occurred to me that the ground floor door in the foreground is almost certainly borked (they don't like diagonal walls near 'em), another tiny tweak to do! PPS - It was.....I fixed it. I'm not so sure about this. Either I read it somewhere in the manual...or on this forum...but I am thinking that the demo blast also "stuns" the soldiers occupying that floor, and that gives the advantage to the attackers during their assault. IRL at least, that is how it works...

Yes, that is the sort of effect they have. Edited October 4, 2017 by LukeFF
Sgt.Squarehead
Easy enough to test.....Set up a building with no windows or doors and place a friendly unit in it. Then add an AI controlled sapper team and, using the AI editor, give them an advance command adjacent to the building followed by an assault command into it. Watch your unit's suppression meter as the AI unit blasts its way in. Edited October 4, 2017 by Sgt.Squarehead

Is there a thread for suggestions like this? I would like to suggest that we get M2 Bradleys without ERA.
