General Liederkranz
I think the CMBS Russian Company HQs, which can be split into teams, are the largest HQ units in any CM game. I'm curious if anyone knows the real-life reasons why they are this way. Are the extra riflemen there as runners in case the radios go down? Are they scouts? Or replacements? Or is it a reserve for the company?
Haiduk
UKR and RUS Company HQs almost equal and have roots in Soviet company battle order. Here for example UKR Coy HQ, which has 8 men + radio operator 1. Company commander - captain. 2. Deputy of company commander (of working with personnel) - senior lietenant or lietenant 3. Senior technecian of company - senior warrant officer 4. Sergeant-mayor of company - warrant officer (logistic duty) 5. Medic-instructor - senior sergeant or sergeant 6. Radar operator - soldier (has SBR-3 portable radar, but in 90 % this duty either abscent or this soldier is using like a... in different purposes ) 7. Senior driver - senior soldier (driver of command BMP/BTR) 8. Gunner - soldier (gunner of command BMP/BTR) 9. Radio operator - soldier (attached from battalion signal platoon for communication of comapny commander with battalion HQ) Edited August 21, 2017 by Haiduk
General Liederkranz
Thank you! So it sounds like I shouldn't be using these guys like an extra rifle squad or splitting some off as scouts.

In the game you, of course, can use them as you wish In real life these guys often forced to substitute own comredes on platoon strongpoints. But part of HQ can be dislocated in company's rear.
Erwin
It's nice to use units as "realistically" as possible within game limitations. I admit to splitting the HQ's into teams and using the non-CO team for recon/scouts as it has binoculars which is valuable. (Splitting an inf squad results in a 2-man scout team without binocs - which makes it look like a suicide mission.) But, if that is a no-no will stop doing that...
