John Kettler
In researching Guards Heavy Tank Regiments for my brother, this turned up. It's the OOB over time of Soviet Tank Formations, as determined by Reinhard Gehlen's Foreign Armies East. Gehlen ran the entire German intelligence command for the Easter Front. The OOB covers the period 1942-1944 and ought to be of prime interest to many here. That great repository of military history, CARL, is the source. http://usacac.army.mil/CAC2/CGSC/CARL/nafziger/942RAAB.PDF Regards, John Kettler
Jammersix
First thing I noticed is that they don't appear to have used the division as an echelon. Is that accurate?
John Kettler
Jammersix, Believe this is correct. A Tank Corps is composed, not of Divisions, but of Brigades; Brigades of Regiments; Regiments of Battalions. An example of this is the structure of the 1st Guards Tank Army, which was compromised of two Tank Corps circa Battle of Berlin.
