There is what appears to be an interesting article in the newest issue of the Smithsonian magazine about the Somme offensive and what the British army learned from it. I've only begun reading it, but it appears to definitely belong in the revisionist genre as it contends that Haig was not such an ass after all.

Okay, finished the article, which I found to be mildly intriguing but superficial and not greatly informative. Evidently it is a promo for the recent book he wrote on the subject. I'll try to get back later with the name of the author and book.
