Sublime
http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/weapons/a18187/here-is-the-soviet-unions-secret-space-cannon/ Guess they armed cosmonauts with shotguns but the 23mm autocannon on a space station takes the cake. Lol new meaning to the idea of Soviet/Russian paranoia.
John Kettler
Sublime, Many thanks for this. During my Threat Analyst days, part of my beat was Russian ASATs, but I don't recall seeing anything on spacecraft armed with guns. I will say, though, that a .50 cal was a lethal threat against anything we had (would've shredded the NASP), so a 23 mm, a very potent cartridge, would've been devastating to whatever was hit. The resultant debris would've been damaging-deadly, too, to any spacecraft encountering it. https://static.nbclearn.com/files/nbcarchives/site/pdf/39934.pdf Regards, John Kettler

ISTR encountering a rumor of something along those lines back in the '80s. I never heard any more about it, so shrugged it off as an "official" rumor put out by the Reagan Administration as part of its efforts to justify Star Wars.
