Lethaface
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bazooka;-PWikipedia says the M9 and M9A1 made use of the better M6A3 rocket (102 mm penetration) vs the M1A1's M6A1 rocket (76mm penetration).
Ivan Zaitzev
Usually later (or bigger) means better. Although unknown items can have their own disadvantages.
J Bennett
M3 greaser was most effective
womble
Against armour, or other hard targets? Only if "most effective" has suddenly changed meaning... Or you're just ignoring the context completely... Even then, it's debatable (at best) that the M3 was the "most effective" SMG of its time. Sure, it was a contender, but situation would define whether it or the MP40 or a Russkie piece or even a Sten was what you wanted in your hands at a given time.
