Any way to buy CMBS for a friend

Recommended Posts

Create a new account for him and pay with your details than send him the login (deleting any saved credit card authorization details if there are any), something like that might work I guess. Or just buy the game another time and send him the key.

Thanks Lethaface. One happy friend itching for war coming up ;)

That is what I have done. It really is pretty straightforward. Nice gift!

Splunkjamma,

Why not just give a BFC gift certificate in the amount of the game? Though I couldn't find it listed on the site, I'd imagine that could be arranged by contacting BFC. The way I've seen it is as a discount code to be applied at checkout. Am not quite sure how to do it if you wish to mask your outlay. In that case, Lethaface may have it right. Recommend you contact BFC's HelpDesk and submit a ticket. I looked in the canned answers under both "gift certificate" and "gift," but found nothing, which is why I suggest generating a ticket.

sburke,

In which case Splunkjamma will now have two separate CMx2 acquisition pipelines--but only if he gets his friend to buy something after the initial game and the friend doesn't change the PW! On a more serious note, it's always good to know that theory and results correlate perfectly when it comes to, wait for it, The Lethaface Implementation! Yes, I do watch "The Big Bang Theory," and the physicists' way of describing things has, to some degree, wormed its way into my brain.

Regards,

Uh no, because they don't exist. It really doesn't help to spread bogus info.

Or he could simply go to the knowledgebase and read this.

How can I buy a game as a gift?

If you would like to purchase a game or book for someone else as a gift, you do not need to do anything special. Simply pick the product(s) you would like to purchase and proceed through the Checkout process as usual. All the relevant information is stored in your customer account.

You do not need to give the person who you bought the gift for access to your customer account! All you need to do is give the other person the License key that you have been issued after the purchase was completed.

The other person than has to register a new customer account ("Register New Account" link on the left of the main store page) if he/she hasn't one already, and will be able to download and license/activate the game with the license key received from you, by logging in and clicking on the link to the "Download Area" (left side) or "Downloads->Customer Downloads" (top menu tab).

By the way, even if you would give the other person your customer account information, they would not have access to your complete credit card/payment information. Your credit card/payment information is stored only partially (last four digits) in our database, and has to be entered in full anew each time an order is placed.

But even incomplete credit card info can be harmful, so you should never give your customer account info and login details to anyone else.

Theoretically you could purchase the game and download it to a thumb drive yourself (or whatever will hold the download), gift wrap the hard goods and present it as a gift with install instruction and appropriate game keys. That has the advantage of saving him the hassle of doing the downloading. Plus you get to put the bow on it.  :D
