I am 108 turns in and i dont think the Russians have much left... I would like to go into detail on how the scenario played out, but i dont want to put any spoilers ITT. I liked it though, and i kinda knew you designed it . It looks and plays a lot like Forging Steel. My opponent was on vacation and I have to say that Canada's brief summers are better suited to being outside than playing CM... Regardless the show must GO ON! My T-90 on the hill succumbs to an Abrams, but at least he takes out one tank and (I hope) damages another. Four T-90s take up positions in the treeline shrouded by smoke. My Khrizantema (I have begun to really enjoy this unit, but it needs to be pigeon-holed in a hull-down position) gets off two ATGMs at a Bradley, but both get APSed one second apart. He must be running low on APS at this point! Two Abrams' move forward to take up hull-down positions on the crest of a hill. I had unloaded the infantry platoon that came with my reinforcements into the woods as I am wary of precision strikes on my BMP-3s. However my opponent liberally blasted the woods with Abrams fire. I take a few minor injuries, but everyone escapes back into their vehicles in good order. I am still not entirely sure what to do with this platoon as there's simply too much open ground to cross with three Abrams' on overwatch. I do have a helicopter strike coming shortly on the American position and perhaps I can get the tanks to withdraw or pop enough smoke that I can sneak across the open ground and get this platoon to take up positions to the left of the town. We shall see. 203mm rounds explode over the farm above the town. 152mm and 100mm rounds join them. This little guy pops up on some very exposed ground. NOT FOR LONG! Finding nothing, I decide to withdraw my BMP-3s back to the ambush position to support the infantry there. As the Khrizantema takes a while to reload, I reverse it to move to another firing position. This stretch of road has many good, hull-down opportunities. An American soldier hunts out of a treeline, but he is promptly exploded by a T-90. I decide to withdraw a scout team covering this valley back, but they are spotted by an Abrams and take two casualties. The recon Humvee got off a few .50 cal blasts at one of my withdrawing BMP-3s, but failed to do any damage. Perhaps I should have saved this ATGM for a better target, but at more than a KM away I felt the team would have probably been spotted and destroyed if they fired at an Abrams. Another T-90 bites the dust due to a Javelin hit. A place you don't want to be. Infantry hustles into buildings on the farm atop the hill. A couple of overview shots. On my right flank, one Abrams has reversed back up the hill, but two Bradleys that went down the hill remain unaccounted for. Maybe they will run into brave RPGman Pelevin? My T-90 that had just been hit by a Javelin gets hit by two precision rounds. So many precision rounds, so much APS! A damaged Abrams on the right flank takes numerous hits and is finally knocked out. The Bradley that exited the treeline moves forward and fires on empty buildings. My infantry platoon moves forward. The infantry will move into the buildings and their vehicles will disperse into the trees. I know my opponent has a drone overhead. The T-90 that has been paired with a Khrizantema leaves its little friend to bolster my right flank position. Still no sign of the Bradleys though, so I wonder if anything is actually coming this way. Curses! One of my T-90s covering the left-flank treeline takes a hit from an Abrams and is knocked out. I'm not sure if it targets both at the same time or if one missile simply misses its target, but one Bradley is taken out while the other pops smoke and withdraws. After numerous penetrations, an Abrams crew on my left flank bails out. There's still one more Abrams nearby.... Who comes under fire from an immobilized T-90 in the treeline on the far bank. I relocate my Khrizantema nearby after reloading and it spots another Bradley drive out of the smoke right next to a Bradley that was just destroyed (bad idea!). But a BMP-3 lurks in a patch of woods nearby... ...And the Bradley is dispatched with a few bursts of 30mm fire. I hope the 100mm airbursts will finish off any survivors. I withdraw my remaining T-90s from the treeline on the far bank and move them into some trees to (I hope) keep them out of drone sight. I have lost half of the company of T-90s (five tanks) with a further tank immobilized (although in a good position) for three Abrams' destroyed, which seems to put an end to my opponent's push on my left unless he redirects his forces. Not bad odds by my accounting. I believe he now only has one Bradley and an infantry team on my left. Even more precision rounds! One round hits my immobilized T-90 to no effect and another hits nearby. He must be running low on these cursed nightmares from the sky! Artillery continues to rain down on the farm above the town. I also redirect my 100mm battery to general fire on the position. Going back over a large battle is very helpful and allows you to pick up on a lot of things that might have otherwise gone unnoticed (such as the grammatical errors and spelling mistakes I have made in this AAR). I might see if my opponent cares to play Lights, Camera, Action next, but he may wish to return to WW2 after this. A number of spotting contacts have appeared on my right flank. They are on Abrams and two Bradleys. I move a BMP-3 into a better position on my right flank. I hope to catch my opponent broadsided. It seems to me that unit behaviour after a laser warning can vary considerably, especially once they exhaust their smoke. Sometimes they'll reverse to safety, other times not so much. My infantry platoon that came with my reinforcements board their IFVs. They're going to make a (death) run to the river. I should have laid a smoke screen with artillery and rushed my units across the open ground. There was no particular urgency to me making this move. On my right flank, a T-90 moves to join a BMP-3 to cover the bridge. The BMP-3 spots an Abrams and fires. Thankfully the Abrams pops smoke instead of returning fire. Seconds later two precision mortar rounds land nearby and immobilize the vehicle. Shortly afterwards, a Bradley emerges from the woods in front of the immobilized BMP-3. A number of rounds hit the Bradley, but it pops smoke and reverses. At least one BMP-3 makes it to the river. At the end of the turn, valiant RPGman Pelevin finds himself in an opportune location. Slay the Yankee beast! The final BMP-3 of my reinforcement platoon finds itself in a rather awful position on the other side of the map. There are no survivors. Sloppy on my part. The final BMP-3 makes it to the river, but the screams of his comrades being blown to pieces cause him to pause in a moment of "shakiness." A Bradley and two Abrams' take up positions atop the hill next to the farm. Lots of area fire around where the Bradley was hit. I figure that with an immobilized vehicle, you might as well use up as much ammo as possible. While reversing out of the treeline, another T-90 bites the dust. Some of my preciously few precision rounds should arrive shortly. A two man infantry team runs away from the hilltop farm. On closer inspection I see a number of penetrations from 30mm rounds on the rear of the tank. I can safely assume it is immobilized. Precision rounds impact on an Abrams and the tank retreats, but I don't think it is seriously damaged. One of my two remaining T-90s (one more is immobilized) gets a laser warning, but from where? I decide to move the tank to what I hope will be a safer position. Two BMP-3's wade through the water to attempt to take out the Bradley on my left flank. The one on the left will soon become bogged. Spots a Javelin team who fire. Uh oh. The T-90 moves out of sight of the Javelin team, but as the missile was in the air it finds my tank and plunges through the top. Yikes.
