Protocol for patching amid PBEM

Hi all,

 

I would like to start this thread to have some confirmation about which is the most correct and, as much as possible, problem-proof procedure to patch the game while playing PBEM matches.

 

The patch is released

-wait for my own turn

-load up the turn

-watch the action phase

-after hitting the red button, and before issuing new orders, save the game

-exit the game 

-install the patch

-reload the saved game, issue orders and hit the button again, send the turn to the adversary

 

Is this the correct procedure?

My guess is you also have to make sure your opponent patches "on the same turn".

Yes.  A variation is to make a copy of the whole install and patch the copy so you can play games with the old version and the new version of the game.  That allows you to coordinate between multiple opponents.

My guess is you also have to make sure your opponent patches "on the same turn".

 

Well before they try to play the new turn yes.

Nothing, a patch is no ready and there is no problem.

The only thing I would add is that it may be best if this is done first by the player who is computing the turns.
