Goldmine for mapmakers

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

while trying to find a detailed map of the Bobruisk-area i stumbled upon this little nugget:

http://igrek.amzp.pl/maplist.php?cat=GR100

Sadly nothing of Bobruisk so far, but there is a ton of detailed 1:100000 maps of Poland and White Russia, East Prussia and so on. Literally thousands of maps of varying quality, some of very high 1:50000. And, especially neat, lots of 40s maps. Get it while its hot... :)

It is a good resource for sure and has been posted previously but overall it is of limited utility when you are creating small maps - a combination of a real map plus a Google Earth screen grab saved as a special editor overlay is usually required to create a truly serviceable map.

Hi,

Crikey..  looks like a stunner.. :).

Have not had time to load down and click around.. but looks great.

Thanks..

All the best,

Kip.

PS. Many know this.. but for those who don’t.. as a default starting point, too big a scale, but good as somewhere to look first. Then move on to site such as the one above.. . http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/ams/eastern_europe/
