SPLIT FROM: Black Sea Update Thread

Arma 3. I didn't think it had r/l vehicles like Stagler mentions, I thought it was all near-future stuff but it's been a while since I last played it.

I've been watching Chris's videos and playing Battle Academy, which is CM- lite and not a bad game at all, especially if you are looking for a decent title in this genre to play on a tablet.

I don't usually comment on other games here, but about arma3, I remember downloading it duing a free weekend few months ago, and gave it a go (I play the franchise since operation flashpoint), so, I went on the editor, placed some vehicles.

Went inside a tank and started driving around....

the effect of driving it in game on various terrain types (which looked like dirt/grass etc.) was like driving my mustang if it was half ton lighter on an ice lake with slik tires.

Uninstalled the minute after it.

Might be viewed as limited mind or whatever you want to call it, just my two cents...

Info about RHS here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?184842-RHS-Escalation-%28AFRF-and-USAF%29-Release-0-3-5-%28UPDATED%29

Also, just a few other small things. The game/sim is called Arma 3, nothing else. It is no longer an abbreviation of Armed Assault, that part has been dropped long ago. It is a combined arms simulator with an infantry focus. It does infantry better than anything else out there. The vehicles and aircraft are both quite realistic and authentic, but they are of course not up to the standard of specialized sims like DCS and Steel Beasts, which are focusing only on aircraft and armored vehicles.

Excellent then you can answer my question. What is the RHS mod - I have seen it mentioned but I could not find out what it was.

It aims to recreate current and near future US and AFRF forces in the ARMA 3 game engine. We are about 25% of the way there so far. We have 0.3.5 release candidate out with plenty of stuff to play with for both forces. As of yet there is no concrete mission base, but the strength of ARMA is its editor.

You can download the mod from BIFORUMS on the link above or from our website - http://www.rhsmods.org/

I am also working on Ukrainian forces as an expansion requiring the main mod.

I would love to get my hands on the government build, they do Steel beast proPE combined with ARMA 3.

Continuing the naughty yet entertaining off-topic discussion..

I love Arma 3, but I really dislike the Vanilla setting and therefore campaign etc. The very best experiences in Arma 3 come from playing it online with a group of folk who play it tactically. The game is so powerful (similar to CM in terms of their seriousness) that small-unit tactics work in their engine. Fireteam bounding keeps you alive whereas blind charges will fill you with holes.

I have quite a few videos of playing the Arma series with a group called United Operations, they are an open community that tries to promote realism. This video is where I am leading a severely under strength platoon in an ill fated assault on an enemy fortified position https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoHQ5yleOaU Everyone on my side is a player, against computer controlled enemies. There were about 15-20 of us if I remember correctly. The server currently peaks at about 70 players on a friday.

I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge and skill.
